Meet Deborah

Deborah Harris has been a dedicated advocate for the people
of Flagstaff for years. With a background in community engagement, over 35 years of administrative experience and service to community she has worked tirelessly to  develop the award winning Southside Neighborhood Plan along with the City of Flagstaff and the community, worked with the city of Flagstaff Sustainability Office to secure a EPA grant to establish the Murdoch Center as one of three Resilience Hubs in the city, and  working to support our small businesses  through advocating for lower water rates during the recent water rate increase discussions.

Her commitment to ensuring that the needs of all neighborhoods are addressed, encouraging a commonsense approach to addressing issues facing our community and working to find common ground to address our declared housing and climate emergency plans are what drives her to seek re-election as a write-in candidate for the Flagstaff City
Council.

“I believe in a Flagstaff that is inclusive, sustainable, and forward-thinking. Together, we can make a difference.”

Key Issues

Climate Action

I support common-sense sustainability through pragmatic policies that balance environmental stewardship with economic and social well-being. We need practical solutions that address our immediate needs while laying the groundwork for long-term climate health. I will work to ensure that sustainability measures are both effective and accessible, fostering collaboration among businesses, communities, and government to achieve a low carbon future.

Cost of Living

I am dedicated to tackling the skyrocketing cost of living in our community. I will work to enhance access to affordable housing, implement cost-saving initiatives in essential services, and support local businesses to foster a more resilient economy. I want every community member to have the opportunity to thrive without the burden of escalating living costs. My focus will be on creating sustainable solutions that provide tangible relief to housing costs and promote a fair and equitable quality of life.

Water

I am committed to investing in our water infrastructure to ensure that our community can fully access and manage our available water resources. This investment is critical not only for securing a reliable and clean water supply but also for supporting sustainable growth and resilience against environmental challenges. I will prioritize upgrading aging infrastructure, enhancing water conservation measures, and implementing innovative technologies to optimize water usage. By focusing on these essential improvements, we can safeguard our water resources and provide our residents with the dependable access to water that is vital for their health and prosperity.
